Frequently Asked Questions About Dump Truck Services
At Standard Construction and Environmental, we understand that you may have questions about our dump truck services.
Below are some of the most the common questions we receive, along with answers to help you plan for your projects.
How much gravel do I need for my driveway?
For a standard single-lane driveway 100 feet long and 10 feet wide, you will typically need 10 to 12 tons of gravel at a 3 to 4 inch depth. Longer driveways, wider lanes, or a poor base condition will require more. When you call us, provide the length, width, and current condition of the driveway, and we can help you estimate the right amount before you order.
How much topsoil do I need?
Topsoil is typically applied 4 to 6 inches deep for lawns and landscaping. A 1,000 square foot area at 4 inches deep requires roughly 12 to 15 cubic yards. If you are filling low spots or grading around a new build, the amount will vary based on depth and area. Share your dimensions with us, and we will help you figure it out.
What is the difference between fill dirt and topsoil?
Fill dirt is subsoil that has had the organic material removed. It is used to build up low areas, construct pads, and level ground before construction. It compacts well and holds its shape but will not support plant growth on its own. Topsoil is the nutrient-rich upper layer of soil that supports grass, plants, and landscaping. For most projects, you use fill dirt to build up elevation first and then finish with a layer of topsoil on top.
Do you spread the material after delivery?
In many cases, yes. Depending on the job, we can spread gravel on a driveway or distribute topsoil across a yard on the same trip. Ask us about spreading when you call, and we will let you know what is possible for your specific project. For larger jobs that need grading after delivery, our dozer and trackhoe equipment can handle that as well.
How far do you deliver?
We deliver materials across a 60-mile radius from Kingston, Oklahoma. This includes Durant, Madill, Ardmore, Tishomingo, Sulphur, Mead, and the surrounding communities throughout Southern Oklahoma. If you are unsure whether you are in our delivery area, just give us a call.
