Storm Shelter Sales and Installation in Oklahoma

Standard Construction and Environmental sells and installs above ground steel safe rooms and inground concrete storm shelters for homes, garages, and buildings across Oklahoma and surrounding states. We build to meet or exceed FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 standards so you know your shelter will perform when it matters most.

We deliver and install shelters throughout Southern Oklahoma, North Texas, Western Arkansas, and beyond.

Above Ground Steel Safe Rooms

Our steel safe rooms are built from heavy gauge steel and installed inside your garage, shop, building, or home. They are a popular choice because they are easy to access quickly when a warning is issued and do not require you to go outside in deteriorating conditions.

Steel safe rooms are available in two standard sizes:

  • 4x6 floor plan, 6 feet tall - designed for 4 to 6 people
  • 4x8 floor plan, 6 feet tall - designed for 6 to 8 people

We also build custom sizes for families, properties, or buildings with specific needs. If the standard sizes do not work for your situation, give us a call and we will work with you on a custom solution.

Steel safe rooms can be delivered and installed anywhere in the United States. Wherever you are, if you need one we can get it there.

Inground Concrete Storm Shelters

For property owners who prefer a traditional below ground shelter, we also sell and install precast concrete storm shelters. These are set into the ground outside or in a garage and provide reliable protection from tornadoes and severe weather.

Concrete shelters are available in two sizes:

  • 6x8 Slope Front — standard size, suitable for most residential properties
  • 6x10 Jumbo Slope Front — larger capacity for bigger families or those who want more room.

Inground concrete shelter installation is available in Southern Oklahoma. We handle the excavation, placement, and backfill with our own equipment so you are not coordinating between separate crews.

Built to Meet or Exceed FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 Standards

Both our steel safe rooms and concrete storm shelters are designed to meet or exceed FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 standards. These are the recognized federal and industry guidelines for safe room design and construction, covering wind resistance, debris impact, structural integrity, and anchoring requirements.

FEMA P-361 is the guideline that defines what a safe room needs to withstand to provide near-absolute protection during a tornado or extreme wind event.

ICC 500 is the companion construction standard that sets specific requirements for materials, design, and installation.

When a shelter is built to these standards it means the structure has been engineered to stay intact and protect the people inside even when the building around it does not survive.

Steel vs. Concrete: Which Is Right for You?

Both options provide reliable protection and both meet the same safety standards. The right choice depends on your property, your preferences, and how you want to access the shelter.

Above ground steel safe rooms are a good fit if:

  • You want quick, easy access without going outside
  • You have a garage, shop, or interior room where it can be installed
  • You are building a new home and want it integrated during construction
  • You need a shelter delivered outside of Southern Oklahoma

Inground concrete shelters are a good fit if:

  • You prefer a traditional below ground shelter
  • You do not have interior space for an above ground unit
  • Your property is in Southern Oklahoma where we install them

Not sure which one makes more sense for your situation? Give us a call and we will talk through it with you.

Storm Shelter Installation

Our Steel storm shelter safe rooms are installed inside an existing garage, shop, building, or interior room of a home. For new construction, interior installation during the build is the cleanest option and allows the shelter to be integrated into the floor plan from the start. We can deliver and install steel safe rooms anywhere in the United States with frequent installations in Oklahoma, Kansas, Southern Missouri, Northern Texas, Arkansas, and Northern Louisiana.

Our Inground concrete shelters require excavation, placement of the shelter unit, and backfill around the exterior. Because we run our own trackhoes and excavation equipment, we handle the full installation process without subcontracting the dig work. Inground installation is available in Southern Oklahoma.

In both cases we handle the installation from start to finish. You do not need to arrange separate contractors for any part of the job.

Custom Sizes Available

Standard sizes work for most families but not every situation is standard.

If you have a larger family, a unique space to work with, or specific requirements for your property or building, we build custom steel safe rooms to fit.

Custom sizing is one of the things we do well. Give us the details on what you need and we will work with you to build something that fits your space and your family.
